Biography

Born in Edinburgh, I graduated with a degree in Furniture Design from Loughborough College of Art and Design where, in my final year won an RSA Design Bursary, a prize which included an industry work placement and study tour to Scandinavia.

Following design consultancy experience in the UK developing new ranges for commercial retailers within the furniture industry, a subsequent move to Italy offered an introduction to the European design scene.

Working for established studios in Milan, gave me an insight into the design process from conception and presentation to prototype refinement on the factory floor and ultimately product release at trade fairs. Consequently, I went onto work independently developing my own product ideas for furniture manufacturers in Italy and Spain.

Currently based in London where alongside product development, I also operate in the interior design field, working both on projects for private clients and in producing CAD/CGI drawing packages for contractors within the commercial sector.

In working between the disciplines although the demands are different, the process is similar; a pragmatic approach to problem solving together with a desire to make an emotional connection with the user.
