Born in Edinburgh, I graduated with a degree in Furniture Design from Loughborough College of Art and Design where, in my final year was awarded an RSA Design Bursary, a prize which included an industry work placement and study tour to Scandinavia.
Following employment with a design consultancy in the UK, a move to Italy and design studio experience in Milan offered an introduction to the European design scene.
Collaborating with other designers within the field, I then started working as a model maker helping bring a series of hand held products to the marketplace, while several of the chairs prototyped by furniture manufacturers in both Italy and Spain were later developed into production ranges.
Currently based in London, where alongside product development, I have also begun to operate in the interior design sector. In working between the disciplines, although the demands are different, the design process is similar: a pragmatic approach to problem solving together with the desire to make an emotional connection with the user; through either stimulating layouts or wherever possible, original product typologies.
